
Speech or Language Impairment - Accommodations
Accommodations for Speech or Language Impairments:
- Allow answers to be given orally or dictated
- Use of a word processor for written work
- Use of sign language, a communication device, Braille, or native language
- Modify assignments such as one-to-one presentation or use of computer with voice synthesizer
- Give student time for processing and/or expressing his/her thoughts
- Ask students to present information
- Preferential seating
- Visual aids and clear, written instructions
- Use tactile and visual cues
- Use gestures that support understanding
- Allow student to tape lectures or provide class notes
- Allow additional time for student to complete activities
- Visual schedules
